Why we picked it

Pink pepper is not true pepper but a slightly sweet, aromatic fruit — it adds colour and a delicate note to pepper blends and to the plate.

About the product

Pink-red berries with a slightly sweet, faintly resinous taste. They are not true pepper but the fruit of a shrub, so they have very little heat; they are used mostly for colour and delicate aroma, in pepper blends and as a culinary garnish.

Taste and aroma

Tasting notes

Slightly sweet and faintly resinous, aromatic, with almost no heat.

How to use it

  • Sprinkle the whole peppercorns over fish, white meat or salads as a garnish.
  • Add them to colourful pepper blends.
  • Crush them lightly over cheeses or delicate creams.
  • Put them in delicate marinades and sauces.

Storage

Keep the pink peppercorns in a closed jar, away from light and moisture, so they hold on to their colour and aroma.

Keep somewhere dry and dark. Whole spices (seeds, sticks) hold their aroma far longer than ground ones.
