About the product

Christian legends tell that lady’s bedstraw was among the “herbs of the cradle”, that is, it was found in the hay of the manger in Bethlehem, which the four holy evangelists recounted. In sixteenth-century England, because of its bright yellow flowers, this plant was also called “maiden’s hair”. In Romanian folk tradition there is a festival of love and fertility dedicated to the Sanziene or Dragaice, nocturnal mythical figures who appear in the fields on the night of 23 to 24 June. The Sanziene were considered to be beautiful women, true priestesses of the sun hidden in the dark forests, untrodden by humans. In our folk tradition lady’s bedstraw was well known and used owing to its diuretic, depurative effect, and in external applications for a good condition of the skin. Lady’s bedstraw is considered “laxative, diuretic, and blood-purifying; also used in psoriasis and other skin problems.” Lucius E. Sayre, A Manual of Organic Mate
