The British Flora Medica or, History of Medicinal Plants of Great Britain (B. H. Barton, 1838) menţionează despre osul iepurelui: „Dioscorides şi Galen lăudau foarte mult calităţile sale diuretice şi litotriptice. […] Simon Pauli vorbea despre el ca incomparabil în calculii rinichilor şi ai vezicii.”
