Intense and full-bodied, slightly astringent, with a dark-coloured infusion.

How to use it

  • Prepare it the Turkish way, in a double teapot (çaydanlık): brew a strong concentrate on top and dilute it with hot water in the glass, depending on how strong you like it.
  • For a simple cup, use near-boiling water and leave it to infuse for a few minutes.
  • It is usually drunk plain, in small tulip-shaped glasses, perhaps with a little sugar.
  • It goes well in the morning and after a meal, as a strong, aromatic black tea.

Storage

Keep the tea in an opaque tin or jar, in a cool, dry place; the leaves easily absorb smells, so keep it away from spices, coffee and other strong aromas.
